MTB supply all Bare and Moisture Barrier Metal Jacketing systems (Aluminum & Stainless Steel) with following standards:

  1. Aluminum: ASTM C1729 (Aluminum Jacketing Material Standard), ASTM B209M (Aluminum standard for chemical and mechanical properties), other standards are available upon request.
  2. Stainless Steel: Stainless steel Jacketing is manufactured from SS304 and SS 316 prime grade Stainless Steels. These Alloy comply with ASTM A-240.

Bare Cladding and Metal Jacketing is available in wide range of thickness (from 0.40 mm to 1.20 mm). We strongly recommend use of Moisture Barrier in all the Jacketing.  The Interior of Aluminum Jacketing is lined with a 3mil thick co-extruded Surlyn and Polyethylene moisture barrier. The film is laminated to the Aluminum Sheet/Coils by a process of heat and pressure. The exterior of Polysurlyn Aluminum Jacketing is a bare mill finish. Polysurlyn Moisture Barrier provides an excellent resistance to moisture and has excellent abrasion resistance during installation.

Polykraft Moisture Barrier (PKMB)

THE POLYKRAFT MOISTURE BARRIER (PKMB) CONSISTS OF ONE LAYER OF 1 MIL POLYETHYLENE FILM WITH A PROTECTIVE LAYER OF 40-POUND VIRGIN KRAFT PAPER. THE MOISTURE BARRIER IS FACTORY APPLIED BY ATTACHING THE JACKETING BY CONTINIUOUS LAMINATION TO THE FULL WIDTH OF THE METAL CLADDING. 

Polysurlyn Moisture Barrier (PSMB)

THE MOISTURE BARRIER (PSMB) ISOLATES THE LAYERS OF INSULATION FROM THE JACKETING MATERIAL, AVOIDING MOISTURE PENETRATION AND METAL-TO-METAL CONTACT TO PREVENT CREVICE, PITTING AND GALVANIC CORROSION. IT ALSO PROTECTS THE INSULATION AND UNDERLYING PIPE/VESSEL FROM ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE, UV EXPOSURE, CORROSIVE ATOMSPHERES AND WATER. 

THE POLYSURLYN MOSITURE BARRIER (PSMB) IS A THREE LAYER CO-EXTRUDED SYSTEM WHICH USES POLYETHYLENE AND DuPont™ Surlyn® POLYMERS WITH A TOTAL FILM THICKNESS OF 3 MILS (76 µm) THAT IS HEAT LAMINATED IN THE FACTORY TO THE INTERIOR SURFACE OF ALUMINIUM JACKETING. THIS MOISTURE BARRIER’S THREE LAYERS ENSURES THE ELIMINATION OF ANY PIN-HOLES IMPARTING EXCELLENT MOISTURE RESISTANCE PROPERTY TO THE FILM.

SURFACE FINISHES

THE SURFACE FINISHES AVAILABLE WITH MTB – ALUMINIUM JACKETING (SMOOTH, STUCCO EMBOSSED & 3/16” CORRUGATED) HAS APPLICATIONS WHERE IT IS RECOMMENDED. ALL OF THESE CAN BE SUPPLED WITH A PAINTED EXTERIOR.

BOTH BARE AND POLYSURLYN BARRIER LINED ALUMINIUM JACKETING COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ASTM ALUMINIUM JACKETING MATERIAL STANDARDS, C1729, TYPE 1, WHICH INCLUDES THE STRENGTH AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLIANCE TO ASTM B209 (ALUMINIUM ALLOY STANDARD).

0.016” (0.4MM) RECOMMENDED ON PIPELINES UPTO 24” OD, INCLUDING INSULATION. USED TO PROTECT PIPING, VESSELS, AND TANKS WHICH ARE LESS THAN 8 FEET IN DIAMETER. 

0.020” (0.5MM) RECOMMENDED ON PIPELINES UPTO 36” OD, INCLUDING INSULATION. USED TO PROTECT TOWERS,               VESSLES AND TANKS WITH A DIAMETER GREATER THAN 8 FEET.

0.024” (0.6MM) THIS HEAVIER GAUGE IS USED WHERE EXTRA STRENGTH AND PROTECTION IS NEEDED. USED TO PROTECT LARGER DIAMETER PIPELINES, TOWERS, VESSLES, TANKS AND EQUIPMENTS.

0.032” (0.8MM) FOR AREAS WHERE EXTRA HEAVY PROTECTION IS REQUIRED, OR IN CUSTOM FABRICATION OF BOX COVERS, TANK HEADS, OR HEAVY WEAR AREAS.
